Ch 10 p 256-283<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5>Introduction&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Post-operative care of a patient begins during the debriefing phase of the Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) and is completed before the patient is transferred to PACU. Post-operatively, it is important for the perioperative nurse to be by the patient\u2019s side to assist the anesthesia provider during the emergence of anesthesia and extubation. It is a critical time due to events that may occur after extubation that are considered medical emergencies.
